Privacy Policy
This policy explains how claylog handles personal data when you use the Service. claylog is a personal shooting log. If you use it without signing in, your shooting data lives only in local storage on your device. When you sign in, your shooting data syncs to our servers so your log follows you across devices — the sections below say exactly what is stored where, and who processes it.
Identity and authentication
We use Clerk as our authentication provider. When you sign in, Clerk receives your email address and stores credentials on our behalf. Your email is used to identify your account and to send transactional messages relating to the Service. We do not sell your email or share it with third-party advertisers.
What data we hold
When you are signed in, the shooting data you log — rounds, station scores, venue names and locations, notes, round dates, and round types — syncs to a server-side database we run on Neon (hosted in the United States). It is keyed to your account identifier and kept for as long as your account is active, so it can be restored on any device you sign in from. When paid subscriptions are enabled, we also hold your subscription status. We do not sell your shooting data, and we do not share it with anyone except the service providers listed below who process it to run the Service.
Scorecard photos
When you use the scorecard scan feature, the photo you take is sent to an AI provider to read the stations and scores off the card: it travels through OpenRouter to a vision model operated by Anthropic or Google, and the recognized scores come back to your device for you to confirm. claylog does not store your photo — it is transmitted solely for that one reading. The providers process it under their API data policies; we use API tiers whose policies state customer data is not used to train their models. The scan screen carries this same notice where you take the photo.
Service providers (sub-processors)
These providers process data on our behalf to run the Service:
- Clerk — authentication; receives your email address and holds your sign-in credentials.
- Neon — the database that stores your synced shooting data.
- Vercel — application hosting; processes the technical request data (such as IP address) needed to serve the app.
- OpenRouter, with Anthropic and Google as model operators — reads scorecard photos when you use the scan feature.
- Sentry — error monitoring; may receive technical diagnostics (browser, device, and error context) when something breaks.
- PostHog — product analytics; receives coarse, pseudonymous usage events (app-flow milestones and counts, such as "a round was completed" — never your notes, email, photos, or a raw account identifier) so we can tell whether the app's core flow works.
- Stripe — payment processing, when paid subscriptions are enabled. Card details go to Stripe directly and never touch our servers.
Your choices
You are in control of your account. At any time you may request a copy of your data (data export) or removal of your account from our systems (account deletion). These requests are handled manually during the early period of the Service; in a future release the same actions will be available as self-service controls in your account settings. To make a request today, email us at the address below and we will action it within a reasonable period.
If you wish to delete your account, contact us using the address below and we will remove your identity record from Clerk, your synced rounds and venues from our database, and any associated subscription data.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the Service evolves. Material changes will be communicated by email to the address on file before they take effect.
